About the WI

The Women's Institute was founded in 1915 to support women and communities during the First World War. It was so named because at the time many of the men were part of the Farming Institute. It is founded on four principles of improving womens' wellbeing: citizenship, development, education and health. The Women's Institute is the original social network!
